3 pays out 250,000 smackers to SeeMeTV users

see.jpgThink uploading your cameraphone videos to an operator’s portal is a mug’s game? Think again. 3 has apparently paid out more than £250,000 to users of its SeeMeTV service, which lets you do just that. Some of that money even went to people who weren’t waving their boobs around for the camera, presumably.

Separately, it’s been reported that more than one million videos a month are being downloaded from the user-generated service. The fact that people are getting paid for their home vids provides a fascinating counterpoint to websites like YouTube, where you get diddly squat, even if your 60-second masterpiece of your cat falling off the sofa is seen by millions of people.
