Voice-over-IP (VoIP) is going to continue being big news in the year ahead, allowing you to make free or super-cheap calls from your mobile handset via the internet, rather than your mobile operator. Nokia has just announced that a VoIP application called Gizmo is now available for owners of its N80 Internet Edition phone.
It’s not yet clear how much it will cost to call non-Gizmo numbers using the application, but it’s likely to be much less than the price of a normal phone call – especially if you’re within range of a wi-fi hotspot while roaming abroad. Gizmo is also available as a PC application.
