The end of DRM?

BusinessWeekBannerA BusinessWeek special feature has focused on the growing number of lawsuits that are challenging media giants using AntiTrust laws arguing that the technology illegal because it restricts purchasers ability to use the music how they want as well as preventing free trade.

The BusinessWeek feature said about the issue, ‘Some DRM opponents have begun arguing that DRM restrictions are actually fueling piracy by forcing users to choose between buying music that they will only be able to play on a limited number of compatible devices or stealing music that they can play anywhere.’ This could have massive repercussions for not just mobiles if the cases go to court and win: something that is likely to happen judging by the French courts opinion on DRM’s already.
