User-generated content on the rise in UK

myspace.jpgA survey conducted by consumer research company, Telephia, has found that social networking, blogging and sharing content via mobile are on the rise. Apparently 4% of UK phone owners have uploaded content created on their mobile handsets to social networking, video and photo sites. That doesn’t sound like many, but then only 14% have used their phones for listening to music, while a meagre 11% send emails.

So where is most of this user-gen content going? Did you really have to ask? Myspace of course. 21% of active uploaders have sent content to the networking giant. Windows Live Spaces comes in next while YouTube and Bebo trail behind in joint third. In the US, 6% of mobile users are uploading, and again, MySpace is the most popular recipient of their blurry images and incoherent video clips.
