Play your PC music library on your phone

Winamp, one of the most-popular digital audio player apps around, and partner Orb have just released a free extension to its Winamp Remote software which will allow you to access your PC’s music library via your mobile’s web browser.

According to the Wired Music Blog, after installing the Winamp player on your PC (and fiddling with the settings, no doubt), you need to point your phone’s browser at winamp.orb.com from where you’ll be guided into your music library back home (assuming everything is set up okay). Apparently you don’t need to install anything on your phone – it’s all handled via the web browser.

Unsurprisingly, DRM-protected files can’t be accessed, but ‘normal’ MP3s should be fine. We haven’t tried it yet but there are five gold Pocket Picks stars on offer for the first one of you guys who does.
