There’s so much talk about mobile advertising within the mobile industry at the moment, but few people have actually asked mobile users what they think of it all. Q Research has though, and the results are interesting.
In a survey of 11-20 year-olds, the firm found that only 32% of them would be happy to receive advertising messages on their phones, but that figure rose to 71% if the messages were targeted to their interests.
They also want ‘stuff’ in return for watching ads – with nine out of ten pay-as-you-go users happy to receive ads in exchange for free phone credit. Meanwhile, picture advertising was the most popular form of mobile advertising among respondants, beating both video and text ads.
