A fresh survey of US professionals who use handheld devices such as BlackBerrys has revealed just how true the popular ‘CrackBerry’ epithet actually is. As anyone who uses – or perhaps more accurately – anyone who lives with anyone who uses a push-email device for work will attest, it seems that the blur between work and private life gets a lot more, well, blurry when there’s a BlackBerry involved.
75% of those questioned in the survey (which also covered mobiles and laptops) by Yahoo! HotJobs said they use their devices for both work and personal matters, and 30% admitted only switching them off when going to sleep. And 25% thought they were effectively kept on a ‘permanent corporate leash’. Er, it does come with an ‘off’ switch, people!
