Push email is now a well-established business technology – just look at all those suited types on the train checking their BlackBerries every couple of minutes for proof. Could it take off for consumers too? Consilient hopes so.
It’s launched a new mobile application called Consilient Push, which sits on your phone and lets you check five email accounts at once. Those supported include Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail and AOL, as well as any email service that supports POP3 and IMAP4 access. It’s free, although you will still pay data charges if you’re not on a flat-rate tariff.
