We’ve written about Twitter before: it’s a ‘micro-blogging’ service that lets you post short messages, which your friends can then keep track of. Of course, the classic sign of a hot web service is that rivals soon spring up. Such is the case with Jaiku, which is taking on Twitter with some advanced features, including location data and in-post icons. It’s run out of Finland, so naturally mobile plays a heavy part too – there’s an application for Series 60 phones, with a Java client on the way too.
