An early glimpse at the ZunePhone?

With Apple almost ready to unleash the iPhone, the internetweb rumour factory has switched to whether Microsoft will respond with a phone based on its Zune personal media player.

Mad4mobilephones has a story on one of Microsoft’s latest patent applications, covering a Tile Space User Interface for Mobile Devices. They reckon the interface could be used for a Zune phone.

We think it’s just as likely to make its way into the Windows Mobile operating system, but either way, it’s an intriguing glimpse at how Microsoft wants to get around the restrictions of small mobile phone screens.
