T-Mobile to secure iPhone distribution rights in Europe?

iphonespecs.jpgIt looks as though T-Mobile might end up being the European carrier to secure the rights to distribute the iPhone; at least that’s what the chaps over at Marketing Week believe.

Previously it looked as though Vodafone or (possibly) Orange were the two most likely candidates to ink a deal, but on the back of T-Mobile’s recent push into the music market, the company may yet be the one to woo Apple.

After Apple made an exclusive deal with AT&T for the US iPhone distribution rights, it has been widely speculated that a similar single company deal would be sought for the European market.

Given the fragmented nature of coverage in Europe across regions in comparison to the US, a sole distributor may end up causing more problems than it solves. Nothing official has been announced as of yet however, so there is a good chance that Apple’s strategy in Europe could differ significantly from that of the US.
