ITV is about to launch a new mobile subscription service called Newsfix which will deliver made for mobile news bulletins. The 3G service launching on the 28th of May, won’t be mere articles but full length video broadcasts of the day’s main stories.
With more than 9 million viewers tuning into the ITV News daily, the service will no doubt prove popular. The news clips will be around two mins long and will be delivered twice a day during the week at 9am and again at 5pm; perfect for travelling to and from work.
Oh, and the service will also include once a day lunch time bulletins at weekends and on bank holidays. Not bad for a £2 per week subscription fee, although as soon as mobile internet gets its act together with faster speeds and cheaper data plans, these sorts of services might struggle to compete.
To subscribe to the service text “FIX” to 88333, to unsubscribe text “STOP” to 88333.
