Almost a week after Carphone Warehouse did the job for it, Nokia has finally got around to announcing the 8600 Luna.
There’s nothing particularly fresh on the spec sheet, apart from a 2.5mm headphone socket (because those 2.5 to 3.5mm adapters are so handy!). Annoyingly, there is still no confirmation whether CW’s listing of 128MB or T3’s video claiming 1GB of on-board storage is correct. If anyone out there has checked out the phone we’d be interested to find out which is right. Either way, at €700 (£475) plus tax off-contract, we say this is a waaaay over-priced handset considering what it can do.
Someone in the Nokia press department has been spending too long down at the yoga yard. Check this out: ‘Adding to its mysterious allure, a gentle keypad illumination pulsates from beneath the glass case while the phone awaits a call. Combined with the warmth of its glass and stainless steel body, this “heartbeat” transforms the Nokia 8600 Luna from an inanimate object into a trusted companion with an organic, virtually alive form.’ Yes, dear, we’re sure it does.
Updated 5th June: Pocket Picks reader Mirza has confirmed that the 8600 ships with 128MB storage and definitely has no slot for additional memory.
