Puzzles, poker and pinball in this week’s mobile games round-up

Last week our sister site Pocket Gamer steered clear of action in the mobile gaming stakes, preferring instead to stick to the three Ps of mobile gaming; puzzle, pinball and poker.

First on the table was Pandora’s Bricks, a Breakout clone with a mystic twist. The game stood up as a decent enough title but in spite of its theme just didn’t have the magic of the game it was aping, earning 6 out of 10.

Next to show its hand was the much more solid Poker Million the Masters. Due to a concerted effort to shepherd the less experienced poker player gently into the game and the absence of bothersome delays whilst the AI gets its hand in order (common of lesser poker games), Poker Million the Masters’ score of 8 out of 10 had nothing to do with luck.

From one bar room classic to another, Tom and Jerry Pinball Pursuit’s colourful take on the genre made a valiant attempt at offering variation but fell short due to the three tables being a bit tough and repetitive, landing a not so highscore of 6 out of 10.

Last week’s mobile gaming highlight was undoubtedly Chuzzle Mobile, a gloriously simple yet addictive puzzler featuring a gaggle of cutesy furballs. The game grabbed us by the thumbs instantly and refused to let go earning Chuzzle Mobile an excellent 9 out of 10 score.

After this climax, the week ended on a low with the barely average Kukuxumusu Farm. A macabre sense of humour, a quirky premise and bold eye catching visuals all count for nothing if a game is clunkier to play with than a deluxe sized box of Duplo as was the case with Kukuxumusu Farm, claiming 5 out of 10 as a result.
