Nokia helps Ewan McGregor go down

6110 Ewan

It must be a nice life being a celebrity. Like, if we decided we wanted to get a couple of top-end motorbikes from BMW plus a free GPS phone from Nokia and then ride from John O’Groats to Cape Town and in the process sell the TV and book rights to the trip… Well, it wouldn’t be happening.

If you’re Obi Wan McGregor, however, these kind of things can happen for you and your buddy Charley Boorman, in the shape of a follow-up to 2004’s ‘A Long Way Round’ trip — this time called ‘A Long Way Down’. To be fair, we’re not sure that we would want to (allegedly) be relying on a Nokia 6110 Navigator to get us to South Africa. Mind you, with a press quote from McGregor saying, “We’ve been playing around with the Nokia 6110 Navigator before setting off and it’s just what we need to stay on track,” we’re fairly sure his support team might be taking a few maps too.

i heard they were actually using the garmin zumo as a few friends spotted it on the bikes when they set off. I know i’d prefer to be using the garmin rather than the nokia…
