Palm attempts to win over the Foleo doubters

palm-foleo.jpgBut not that well, it has to be said. Palm’s official blog has posted an audio interview with company founder Jeff Hawkins, which addresses the underwhelming reaction to the new Palm Foleo device and tries to sell us on its merits.

“It’s not a product for everyone,” is the comment that stands out. Apparently the Foleo is perfect for owners of Palm Treo smartphones who travel a lot and don’t want to carry heavy laptops with them. Now that’s what I call a niche.

Yep, we 100% agree. At $250 it might have made some sort of sense, but at $500 it makes absolutely no sense at all — not when low-end laptops (if you can live without Sony Vaio niceness) start from not much more than that.
