We’ve written about Lastminute and Coolgorilla’s talking mobile phrase books before – they’re applications that let you choose a phrase in English, and they then ’speak’ the phrase in whatever language you’ve selected through your mobile’s speakers.
Anyway, they used to cost £3, but they’ve just been made entirely free in time for the summer holiday season. Languages covered are French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portugese and Greek, with topics including travel, accomodation, shopping and, ahem, romance.
It’s a neat idea, either to get the pronunciation clear in your own head, or just to play the phrases at someone who’s unaccountably failed to comprehend your rubbish GCSE-failing attempts at their local lingo.
