Willcom’s phone-with-a-number-for-a-name — the Nine handset — is an excellent piece of kit. It’s been on sale in Japan since the turn of the year, and has been turning heads with its distinctive chocolate bar looks. The thing only weighs 67 grams, which makes it the Milky Way of handsets (if you’ll excuse the allegory).
Anyway, it appears that Willcom has a favourite footie team — and Willcom is assuming that a percentage of its subscribers also follows the magic at Camp Nou — as this FC Barcelona version of the Nine is destined for retail in Japan next month. Which is good timing, really, as the Asian Cup will have reignited some football frenzy by then (if Japan do well, that is) and — more importantly — the new European season will be in sight. Not long to go now…
