Now XS2TheWorld is releasing mobile talking phrasebooks

xs2theworld.jpgRemember the talking phrasebooks I wrote about last week, from Lastminute and Coolgorilla? Y’know, the mobile applications that let you choose English phrases, and have them read out in a foreign language? Well, it turns out that Coolgorilla isn’t the only company working on this idea.

XS2TheWorld has just announced its own range of speaky phrasebooks, which contain up to 300 phrases in Mandarin, Cantonese, French, Dutch, Spanish or Thai. Subjects covered include customs, travel, doctors and emergencies, and flirting. The applications also include spoken directions to points of interest.

XS2TheWorld reckons it’ll charge a fiver for each application, although whether that’ll last when Coolgorilla’s rival apps are free is anyone’s guess. However, for a limited period, you can get XS2TheWorld’s free too, via the link below.

I think this is excellent application. Will go to China on holiday and can’t wait to install it on my Nokia N73.

xs2 combines a travel guide with a phrase book, a unique combination that other applications lack. Used xs2 in Paris to find the towns hotspots and flirt with the local girls, had great fun!
