Nokia to launch music download store to rival iTunes

Nokia Music

Nokia is set to announce news of its own music download store on August 29th in a launch event at the Ministry of Sound club in London. This is according to CNN Money, who also claims here that Nokia’s yet unnamed website will also offer one million full track music downloads from the off. It will work like iTunes where you sync your mobile phone or digital music player with your PC to transfer your music — but as yet there’s no news of whether you’ll be able to download tracks over-the-air straight to your mobile phone. Nokia is also expected to announce new music handsets at same event. Maybe the new Nseries phones that leaked back in May…?

Pocket Picks has been waiting for news of a Nokia music download store after it bought up digital music distributor experts Loudeye last year. Remember Nokia has already dabbled with a music download service on a smaller scale with its Music Recommenders website. This website involved all the coolest music store around the world recommending choice cuts from the latest breaking and established music acts from all genre’s of music but wasn’t really a download store to rival the likes of iTunes.
