The GPS Speed Sentry is a nifty little Pocket PC application that gives you a subtle warning that you’re breaking the speed limit. The latest version, just released by Tchart Development, has added warnings about upcoming speed cameras so you can slow down and not get flashed.
The downloadable application has a wealth of personalisation options. It has six user-defined speed limits and uses GPS technology to monitor your speed to ensure you’re not going too fast. It uses audible warnings, or a more dangerous option is to use the displays on your smartphone.
The Speed Sentry can also show you your current/top/average speed, an odometer, elevation, position, bearing and more. You can choose imperial or metric units, get your position using the Ordnance Survey grid, and choose from day/night colour screens.
It’s a great little application, but you do have to wonder how safe it is if you are speeding and you aren’t using the audible warnings!
