As part of its moves to control recent disturbances in Dhaka, Bangladesh’s military-lead interim government has ordered the total shutdown of the country’s mobile phone networks. We wanted to take a moment to reflect on reading — on being reminded — that in this colourful and connected technological world of ours there is an off switch somewhere, should the powers that be choose to use it. It’s a sobering thought.
