Mobiles banned in Caribbean paradise

caribbean2.jpgBeaches are not phone friendly places, the delicate slide function on a Nokia N95 just doesn’t mix very well with sand, sun lotion and sea water. If however, you are completely addicted to your handset then you could always stash it away safely in your beach bag.

That is, you could do that as long as you are not planning a holiday that will take you within a half mile radius of Palm Island in the Caribbean. Elite Island resorts, the company that owns Palm Island has deigned that guests will not bring their mobiles, PDA’s or laptops within half a mile radius of the main Casarina beach.

It’s hard to know what to think about this… We’re so torn. Being separated from our beloved phones sounds like hell, but after a couple of weeks in a peaceful Caribbean paradise we could get over it. Actually, come to think of it, being faced with this choice in the first place wouldn’t be half bad…
