Shown at Berlin’s IFA show but not formally announced, Samsung’s i550 GPS phone has just been given the official nod. And we’re nodding too, with a specs list that includes (take a deep breath)… GPS, HSDPA high-speed 3G, EDGE low-speed 2.5G, quad-band connectivity, 3.2MP camera with autofocus and flash, the S60 UI running on Symbian, 3.5mm headphone jack, 150MB memory with support for 4GB microSD cards, FM radio, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP (stereo), USB 2.0, and a full HTML web browser. Sweet!
Okay, it’s not the flashiest looking phone, but with a 2.6″ QVGA screen and hot keys for internet and GPS, it’s a damned fine piece of technology. Expect it in the UK before Christmas.
