Nokia has announced new partners to provide mobile video content for its Video Centre, joining existing providers YouTube and Reuters.
The Video Centre is aimed at Nokia NSeries users, offering one point of access on its handsets to branded mobile video content such as clips, music tracks and podcasts via 3G, WiFi or PC connections. The first phones it’s available on are the N95 and new N95 8GB.
It seems every operator, manufacturer and their dogs are offering video services to consumers these days, but Nokia’s announcement is the latest in its long-term strategy to position itself as more than just a device manufacturer. The Video Centre means NSeries users won’t have to go onto their operator’s internet portal and can just go straight to the content.
The new content partnerships include Jamba (free entertainment), Sony Pictures (films), RooftopComedy (comedy clips from around the world), ROK, FreeBeTV, and Versaly (male lifestyle channel) Entertainment. Additionally CNN news and IBN News will only be available in the Asia-Pacific region.
