Nokia has signed a deal to license the Vyke Mobile VoIP service on its handsets, offering its handset users the service through its Download Now! on-handset portal.
Users who sign up to the service get $1 worth of free Vyke calling credit. This doesn’t sound like much but considering Vyke charges a flat-rate 4 per call (under 2p) for calls to North American and Western Europe landlines, it work out as around ten hours of free international calls from your mobile.
Nokia and Vyke said they have identified selected European markets for the initial launch of the service on Nokia’s handsets so presumably the UK will almost certainly be one of them.
