Samsung is launching a cheap ruggedised handset this December, it’s emerged, coming to Orange for about £70 (on pay-as-you-go, we guess). The entry-level device, dubbed the Samsung Solid, comes in a choice of colours (so long as it’s black), has rubber keys and has a protective case.
According to Pocket Lint, the Solid is about the size of a Sony Ericsson W810 and features Bluetooth. However it carries a low-resolution VGA camera and 64k colour screen. Pretty dull on the tech front, then.
However, it’s thought that the Solid will be, er, solid enough to survive a drop from your pocket, but not from higher than your head — which is fine by us because we normally store our phones below head height. Oddballs that we are.
