‘Console-quality’ games arriving on mobiles next year

Game.gifUS mobile gamers are the first to get their hands on console-quality games on 3G devices, now that Vollee has launched its new service.

With Vollee, US games fans can apparently experience the comparable quality graphics, AI and in-game physics to those seen in PC and console games.

Vollee is based on a streaming platform that optimises games, taking into account 3G network bandwidth and device capabilities, for mobile phones. Gamers download a software application to their handset which accesses Vollee’s range of streamed titles.

So far leading game publishers Activision and Codemasters, and software company Encore Software have signed up to support the service.

Vollee said its service will be launched to consumers in the US next year, and its currently in trials ‘internationally with major carriers’, so hopefully we could be playing console-quality games on our mobiles here in the UK as early as next year.
