3’s Skype phone is just days away from release it seems after more details about the device have emerged.
The phone is a partnership between 3, Skype and iSkoot. We had previously reported that the phone would have multimedia capabilities and HSDPA for VoIP calls.
Now, UK Phone News has claimed it has received an embargoed picture of the device from a 3 contact, but it can’t show it until the phone’s released on November 2. It has said it’s ‘very sexy’.
What it has said is that the device will have a two-megapixel camera with video capture, MP3 player and equaliser and photo editing. Trying not to be cynical, doesn’t every mobile phone have these features these days?
However, it’s also claimed that the phone will come in three colours and be available on prepay, and on a contract – it’ll also be the only phone on a new £12 Mix and Match tariff offering a mix of 100 minutes/texts each month.
Now this is interesting – if 3’s releasing the phone on a cheap tariff, it’s obviously expecting users to spend more time chatting for free on Skype, and then using the device for its multimedia services.
