Sprite Mobile has released version 6.1.0 of it’s Sprite Mobile Backup software for Windows Mobile.
If you have ever tried to back up a Windows Mobile device using ActiveSync you will know it is, shall we say, a bit limited.
Backing up contacts and documents is ok (if a bit fiddly) but that’s about it – if you hard-reset your phone you will have to reinstall each and every 3rd party application and game you had been using, then set about reconfiguring them the way you like. It’s a painful process.
Sprite Mobile Backup lets you make a complete backup image of your phone, applications included. Backups can be run automatically to a schedule, encrypted, compressed and even uploaded to a FTP site, should that float your boat.
This would be especially useful if you had to support several Windows Mobile devices (e.g. for a corporate IT department) – just keep working backup images on disk and squirt them back onto the phone every time a user comes back with their settings all messed up.
