Mobile guitar tuning application finally invented

cb_guitar_070824_ms.jpgMobiles really are getting all musical on us today. First we here about how you can compose your own ringtones for the iPhone using the new version of Apple’s Garage Band and now a very smart Icelandic chap has developed a guitar tuning application for your phone.

The inventor Freyr Jónasson, a Masters student in computer sciences at the University of Iceland, commented:

Those who need to tune their guitars either call a service center or use a program in their cell phones. It works the same way as many games that cell phones have. The program compares tones from the guitar to standardized tones. Then the variation is shown with a graphic on the cell phone’s screen

The project has already recieved an award from the University of Iceland and Jonasson is now establishing a company of his own so that he can get his idea out there into the market. Good for him and hooray for common sense.
