Twitter, the social networking service letting you type a message (of up to 140 characters) and send it to all your mates, has been given compatibility with the mother of all messaging devices – the BlackBerry.
Twitter is an interesting idea because you can write one ‘Twit’ and it gets sent to all your mates at the same time. Mobile comes into it because all your friends’ updates are sent to you as an SMS message.
It is a good idea but unfortunately people were using it too much and Twitter recently had to restrict the number of inbound SMS messages a Twitter can receive because it was losing money on the amount of SMS traffic it was generating. D’oh!
Anyway, TwitterBerry (geddit?), now lets BlackBerry owners use their device to not only post SMS updates for their mates, but also lets them track their friends’ activities as well.
