Samsung and Adidas have paired up to launch the miCoach phone which the companies are touting as the first true sports music mobile. Sound familiar? Well it should because this was announced ages ago but it seems that the device has had a name change and a bit of a form rethink.
A full list of specs have emerged now and the main selling point here is that the miCoach phone can collect and analyze personal data and then produce customized training plans related to your fitness level and specific goals. The miCoach can also give you real-time feedback during your workout. It sounds like a beefed up version of Apple’s Nike iPod venture where a device you plant in your shoe communicates with your iPod wirelessly to give real time feedback during a run.
Indeed similarly, the miCoach phone is equipped with a stride sensor but benefits from other extras such as a heart rate monitor. Of a lest scientific slant, the phone also
provides training tips and time updates as well as suggestions for music tailored to your workout.
The 2.0 inch LCD shows a real-time visual display of time, heart rate, distance, speed and calories burned. The miCoach phone is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera and 1GB memory capacity so users can capture their workout milestones. It also sports (arf, arf) USB and Bluetooth connectivity options for syncing with the miCoach web portal.
Not exactly the sort of thing that will set the mobile industry alight but it is something different and for those trying to break into a decent exercise pattern the miCoach could well prove useful. The miCoach phone will launch in Germany and other European countries (hopefully here!) from mid-March and will be available in seven different colours (Dark Gray, Tech Silver, Pink Red, Cool Gray, Sapphire Blue, Misty Blue and Sweet Pink.)
