Rumour: Motorola Alexander eight-megapixel camera phone

motorola-alexander.jpgMotorola is having a tough time at the moment, for all manner of financial reasons, some of which may be connected to the fact that the RAZR simply isn’t the zeitgeisty style icon it once was. In other words, the pressure’s on Moto to come up with something new. The well-connected Boy Genius Report blog has details of what it says is Motorola’s answer to this problem. It’s a handset codenamed ‘Alexander’ (no mountain to climb / white elephant jokes please), which will have an eight-megapixel camera, possibly GPS and a touchscreen, and is likely to go on sale this October. It sounds good, although the key factors in the success of the phone, if it exists, will be firstly style – can it complete with the swizzy new handsets from LG and Samsung, not to mention the iPhone – and secondly battery life, given those advanced features.
