O2 PAYG iPhone 3G details let out of the bag by mistake

iphone-3g.pngO2 has just fessed up some solid details on Pay As You Go pricing for the iPhone 3G and the good news is that it’s surprisingly wallet friendly. Which is great, as when Germany and France were finally forced to allow consumers to buy the original unit unlocked (due to strict consumer laws), the cost was enough to buy a pint of angel tears, an island in French Polynesia or an ivory Rolls Royce upholstered in real unicorn hide.

But that’s in the past and you are probably just anxious for figures so here goes. AN 8GB iPhone 3G will set you back a mere £300 which is just under double the price of an 8GB iPod touch. The 16 GB iPhone 3G will cost a little more at £360 and both handsets include six months free unlimited web browsing which will be bumped up to £10 a month after the trial period (which isn’t half bad really).

According to TECHWATCH the details came from the O2 official page with O2 claiming that due to a technical error, they were published early before removing them from the site. That means that these here figures are subject to some potential wriggle room, but given the pricing for the contract based iPhone 3G, these figures certainly seem more than plausible. As soon as O2 re-publishes the details, we’ll be sure to let you know.
