Adobe still working on iPhone Flash

flashlogo.jpegAdobe chief executive Shantanu Narayen has confirmed that his company is still working on porting a Flash interpreter to the iPhone, despite Apple’s lack of interest.

A team at Adobe now has a working build of a Flash plug-in for Safari that runs under an iPhone emulator.  They plan to continue development and test it on a (presumably Jailbroken) handset.

Thing is, though, Apple don’t seem to want it to happen.  Flash is a potentially useful add on for the end user (YouTube alone would make it worthwhile) but the arbitrary nature of Flash interfaces wouldn’t sit well with the iBrand – not to mention potentialy looking horrible if run n the iPhone’s small screen.

More than that, it would be another unauthorised route foraps to creep onto the handset.  A route Apple DO NOT CONTROL, which obviously cannot be allowed.
