Nokia’s mobile file sharing service Ovi has released a beta of Files of Ovi – it’s new app that lets you access any file on your PC.
Files on Ovi requires some software - a ‘connector’ – on your PC. Currently on Windows XP and Vista are supported, though Ovi have said they wish to support other operating systems in the future.
The connector will share any files or folders on your PC via your broadband connection where they can be accessed via any web enabl ed device (e.g. a PC browser or a mobile).
Accessing files directly from your PC obviously requries your PC to be left on and your broadband link to be up, but Ovi will also allow the creation of ‘Anytime Files’. These are synchronised copies of your files held on Ovi’s servers.
The free Beta comes with 10GB of storage on a 90 day trial. In the future, Anytime storage will be a premium service.
