Aren’t we a little behind the times plugging Facebook’s iPhone app? A-ha, no. Yes, it was available for day one of the App Store, but it’s just been updated to version 1.1, with a shedload of new features. So, you can still post and read status updates, chat to friends and send messages. However, now you can also see and write on your wall, as well as your mates’ walls. Photo browsing has been jazzed up, and they claim there are also “dozens” of bug fixes behind the scenes. The fact that an app as high-profile as Facebook launched with that many bugs shows the issues developers have been having with beta testing their iPhone apps, incidentally. The new features are welcome, not least because they bring the native iPhone Facebook app into line with the iPhone-optimised web version, viewed through iPhone’s Safari browser. There’s still a valid argument to just stick with the latter rather than install yet another app to your handset, but judging by Facebook’s high position in the App Store chart, few are taking that approach.
