We’re going to be hearing much more about mobile videocasting, thanks to startups like Qik that let you stream live from your phone. An interesting startup with its own spin on this is 12seconds, which is quite Twitter-esque in its restrictions on what you can post at one time. How so? Well, the idea is you shoot and upload video from your phone or a webcam, but it has to be 12 seconds long – no more, no less. It’ll certainly teach you to refine your witterings into pithy soundbites, just as Twitter has taught people to express themselves in 140 characters or less. 12seconds is in public alpha, meaning you have to request an invitation on its homepage to get in. It’s a novel idea, although I can’t help thinking I’d rather use a service that gives me the flexibility to record longer clips if I want to.
