Google Android handsets will arrive this year says HTC

htc-dream-android.jpgJust a quick note on Google Android, which seems to have done a bit of a disappearing act in our column inches of late. Indeed, there has been a good bit of handkerchief wringing going on about the Android OS on all fronts lately, specifically about whether the OS will actually make it onto a retail handset this year.

According to HTC’s CFO, Huiming Cheng, however, we can all breathe a sigh of relief as the company’s first Android handsets will make their way to shop shelves before the end of this year.

So what will we be seeing from the Taiwanese manufacturer? Will it be the HTC Dream? Or will it be some other top secret device that we haven’t even heard a rumour about yet? Either way, it promises to be pretty special and we only have to wait until this winter to find out.
