I’m a little disappointed that this doesn’t require you to make a ‘phone shape’ with your thumb in your ear and little finger extended to your mouth, but otherwise this is a solid entry into the novelty/niche device canon.
The Swany g.cell snowboarding glove has a Bluetooth speaker/mic embedded in the palm, a vibrating ringer in the wrist and a pick-up/hang-up button on the back of the hand. Should you receive a call while out on the piste you needn’t spend ages taking your mittens off, then fumbling though layers of insulation and gore-tex to find your mobile. You just tap your wrist and – literally – talk to the hand.
You can place outgoing calls with a voice-activated dialer – assuming your mobile supports this function.
Swany claim a standby time of 12 hours with up to 4 hours of talk time, which should be enough for even the most dedicated boarders. At around $495, though, the price is a little – dare I say it? – extreme.
