HTC Dream G1 Andoid phone spy shots finally arrive!

dream1.jpgThe time for blurry videos, FCC diagrams and speculation has passed and now the time for some crisp clear spy shots is finally at hand. That’s right, this is the HTC Dream G1 which will be the first handset to bear Google’s Android OS. *high five*

It’s certainly not a bad looking handset, though that control panel at the bottom does look somewhat bolted on and could surely have been made a bit more slender. That’s presumably the price of including a full touchscreen UI as well as a hidden QWERTY, so we aren’t going to complain (yet).

As you can see the device also has T-Mobile’s logo slapped across its forehead, which if we are honest does give the impression of a cheap carrier branded handset. But what are we complaining about (didn’t we just say we weren’t going to do that?), this is an Android phone after all.

Actually, there’s something else. That QWERTY, although cunningly hidden, does look a bit awkward to use, particularly on the top right hand corner where your right thumb will have to stretch past the home controls to reach the keys.

But enough naysaying, let’s just enjoy the moment. More pictures after the jump.

It’s all about the looks these days, and that thing will not appeal to slot of people apart from the ones who will know exactly what that phone does.
Looks real bad I have to admit. Thought google would have chosen something more sleekier yet simple to use.
