LG launches cheap touchscreen KP500 handset in the UK

LG has announced that it’s bringing the LG-KP500 handset to the UK at the end of next month, and has hailed it as “the most affordable full touchscreen handset in the UK”. However, bafflingly, the company won’t announce the actual price until the phone launches.

In other words, it’s an unprovable boast. And besides, with the iPhone 3G free on certain contracts, LG possibly means the KP500 will be the most affordable full-touchscreen handset on pay-as-you-go in the UK – a slightly more complex sales pitch.

Anyway, the phone itself sounds pretty good, with several of the features previously seen in higher-end LG touchscreens like the Viewty and Renoir. It’s also got an accelerometer for motion gaming – another feature seen in more expensive LG phones in recent months.

We’ll have to wait until the end of October to find out just how affordable it is, though.
