The thing about concept phones is that besides providing five minutes worth of wholesome drool time, they are a bit useless. No matter how cool, revolutionary, innovative, practical or unique they are, only a teensy weensy portion of them ever make it to market and their is usually a chasm of difference between the initial mock-up and the final devices.
But because we have never seen a wooden phone before, we are going to forget about the folly of lusting after that which we can’t have and just indulge ourselves. Designed by Nokia’s eco team, this little wooded rectangle of gorgeousness has gone beyond the paper stage and has actually been whittled out in real life.
Not that that will bring it any closer to the palm of your hand and even if this ever did get a release, you can bet a warehouse full of premium mahogany that it would cost an arm and a leg. Incidentally, this thing has controls that are much more in line with a standalone digital media player, a la iPod, than with a mobile phone.
Could Nokia being exploring networked Comes With Music media players for use with the Nokia Music Store? It’s certainly a wild bit of speculating but stranger things have happened, such as wooden phones for example…
