Android Market has a kill switch too

All you Android naysayers, stop saying nay – the new OS is so obviously the equal of the iPhone that Google has even been able to implement some of Apple’s  more ‘interesting’ decisions – including the ability to remove apps from your phone without asking.

Google has confirmed that the Android Market – the central Android app repository – will have a ‘kill switch’ to delete apps from user’s phones, just like Apple’s App Store.

The kill switch is menat to only be used in the event of a harmful app being place on the Market – this is potentially more likely than with the App Store as Google does not vet apps in the way that Apple does.  The company has promised to refund any cash you have dropped on a killed app, which may go some way to reassuring wary consumer.
