Sony Ericsson planing 20 megapixel camera phones for 2012…

Forget the current battle for 8 megapixel supremacy, by the year 2012 handsets like the C905 will look about as impressive as a disposable camera. At a recent press conference in Sweden, Sony Ericsson outlined its war path for high-end mobile phones claiming that by 2012 it will offer a range of handsets packing between 12 – 20 megapixels worth of sharp shooting clarity.

Besides that, full HD video recording capabilities are mooted alongside 1024 x 768 pixel displays, 1 GHz processors and 100+ Mbps data speeds. If that doesn’t sound like a giant pile of awesome to you then chances are, you are reading the wrong blog.

Of course, before these handsets become possible Sony Ericsson might have to figure out a way to turn mobile users into pure energy to power its handsets. Either that or sort out some impressive new battery technology. It’s a tall order and 2012 is not far off. Let’s hope this is not a case of over promising and under delivering.
