AT&T’s wireless and consumer markets division head honcho, Ralph de la Vega, has promised that the carrier will soon offer a service that allows iPhone owners to use their devices as a modem for their laptop computers.
Great for US customers, not of much interest to those of us on this side of the big puddle, or so you would think. An AT&T spokesperson commented on the release “we’re working on that application with Apple and hope to make it available soon.”
The key thing is that the company is working on the service with Apple, which though a no brainer for such a major feature add, does bode well for the service reaching other carriers, such as O2 in the UK as well as T-Mobile and Vodafone throughout other parts of Europe.
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, or at least, that’s the line of thinking we hope Apple is opting for with this.
