Reading books on your iPhone is great, but did you know you can read comics too? There are several viewers around for CBZ/CBZ files (basically, scanned JPGs of comics in an archive) but these can take up quite a bit of processing time due to the large images and uncompressing that is required to display them – not to mentione the fact that a lot of CBZ/CBR files contain pirated comics.
ComicZeal is comic reading app that has a nice little library of out-of-copyright issue from the ‘Golden Age’ (roughly, 1930-40) of comic books. Even better, the app uses its own CBI format that is optimised for the iPhone’s screen size and processor.
Pages can be panned, zoomed and rotated just like any other image and should you exhaust the selection on offer there is a PC/Mac app to create your own. Just watch out for that copyright thing.
