//Movie management made easy with Flixster
Consider the old Friday night dilemma about what to see at the cinema solved. Jeffery Grossman’s monstrously popular movie organising iPhone application, Flixster, is currently sitting pretty at around 3.5 million downloads and it’s easy to see why. (Still, we bet he’s kicking himself he didn’t release a paid version.)
The application lists the top box office films according to popularity and rating, providing direct links to trailers of the films and profiles on services like the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) and Rotten Tomatoes. You can also add your own ratings which are tied to your own Flixster profile.
It also finds out where the cinemas in your local area are (not just for the US please note) and then supplies directions direct. There’s a menu for listing DVDs, upcoming films and a My Movies section where you can share your Flixster movie ratings with your Facebook account.
It’s all as simple to use as you might expect and the only mystery about Flixster is why such a useful and fully realised movie categorization app is free. So basically, if you are a regular cinema goer, or if you even just want to keep up to date with the latest trailers, Flixster deserves a front row seat on your home screen. The only thing it doesn’t do is make popcorn.

Hi Fraser,
How do you know that Flixster has been downloaded 3.5 million times. Can we find out # of downloads for any application?
Thanks
