iPhone app slides Kama Sutra, multi-touch together

You take it to school, to work, and even out on the town. Now, Bulgarian developer Cramzy wants you to take your iPhone into the bedroom with Ananga Ranga.

The app, which is based on the ancient Indian text Kama Sutra, provides vivid descriptions of 50 sexual poses. Founder Iliya Yordanov details the app in an eye-opening video walkthrough on the company’s website.

A trio of snapshots show each sexual position enacted by a pair of 3D models, which can consummately be zoomed using multi-touch. “We’ve hired a professional 3D artist to design 50 Kama Sutra poses, each shot from 3 different angles,” he explains.

And Yordanov assures us that the positions have been thoroughly tested. You’re welcome to decide for yourself though, using the app’s star rating system and online commenting.

Despite the mature nature of the app, Yordanov tells us that Ananga Ranga will sail through Apple’s certification process. “I already spoke to Apple, and they said it will be approved for iPhone 3.0, where parental controls will be introduced.”

It’s likely that the new parental controls incorporated in the forthcoming 3.0 update are softening Apple’s stance on mature content. There’s still a chance it could be rejected or only offered in select territories.

We’ll know for certain this summer when Cramzy submits Ananga Ranga.
